Dean William Strong, 93, Marion, passed away at home on Monday, April 4, 2022. He was born in Palouse, Washington, on Sunday, March 3, 1929, to Arthur and Alice (McClure) Strong. On June 7, 1950, he married Leta Marie Kurtz.
Dean graduated from Potlatch Idaho High School and from York College and then went on to receive his Master's of Divinity.
He was a resident of Grant County since 1995 prior to which he had spent most of his adult life and ministry in Kenya, Africa as a Missionary under World Gospel Mission beginning in 1958. Dean had many opportunities to preach and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Kenya. He was loved and will be missed by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his sons, Larry (Liz) of Temple, TX, David (Cathlene) Strong of Marion; daughters, Marilyn (John) Trojak of Sharpsville, PA, Karen (Steve) Feazel of Schertz, TX; son-in-law, David Nave; brother, Lyle Strong; and sister, Carol Carter; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Strong; wife, Leta Marie Strong; daughter, Connie Nave; brothers, Dwight Strong, Howard Strong, George Strong; and sisters, Elizabeth Kreid, Velma Krasselt.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Dean's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Pioneer Faith Evangelical Church, 3805 S. 500 E., Marion, IN 46953, with visitation an hour prior to the service Pastor John Trojak and Pastor Dean Terrell will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
